Bmw Black Edition M3

Bmw Black Edition M3

This BMW M3 Frozen Black Edition is a well-presented example of this remarkably rare E92 variant, with some discerning visual and performance upgrades. Under the bonnet is a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, tuned to produce around 470bhp instead of the standard Edition's 425bhp. This power is harnessed by a seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift. The odometer reads 72,965 miles.

First registered on 6 November 2010, this UK-market M3 has nine previous registered keepers on the log book, and has been cherished and maintained by the current vendor for just over a year.

Not to be confused with more common limited editions, or simply a car with aftermarket modifications, the KA355 series 'Frozen Black Edition' was built as a limited run of just 27 cars worldwide. The vendor believes that this is one of only two KA355 Frozen Black cars in the UK.

These limited-run models came with the Competition Pack as standard, with 10mm lower suspension, the Professional media system, Bluetooth connectivity, electric seats and mirrors, as well as carbon-look interior trims. The car is also equipped with the Electronic Damper Control (EDC) system, range-topping Individual BMW Hi-Fi system, and adaptive headlights with High Beam Assist. It has the exterior mirror package, Individual Sun Protection Glass, and mobile phone Bluetooth preparation for calls and audio. Finally, the storage compartment package is included, along with BMW Assist and Extended BMW Online information services.

The 'Frozen Black' finish was achieved by BMW adding an opaque clear coat over a Sapphire Black metallic base, creating an aesthetic that perfectly complemented the muscular bodywork and purposeful stance. The paintwork presents well throughout, with only some stone chips visible on the front bumper and bonnet, commensurate with the mileage. The vendor says that a ceramic coating has been applied to protect it from similar blemishes in the near future.

This car has also been fitted with a full carbon-fibre bodykit comprising a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, door handles, boot spoiler and side mirror housings. Aftermarket NEM headlights have also been fitted. It wears the original 19-inch forged alloy wheels, two of which have been professionally refurbished (passenger side).

Moving inside, the BMW's dark theme continues with black leather upholstery and red stitching. The seats are in good condition, with only light signs of usage to the driver's seat. The carbon-fibre dashboard trim has also been treated with care to avoid scratches, and the dashboard switchgear is intact with no cracking or fading present. Contact points including the iDrive controller and gear lever are in good condition, and the genuine BMW M Performance Alcantara steering wheel is complemented by modified and drilled shift paddles.

This M3 has enjoyed comprehensive servicing to date. It was last serviced by marque specialist BMR Performance at 72,553 miles. This was an engine oil service with replacement spark plugs included. A new battery has recently been fitted. During the seller's tenure, he has had the throttle actuators changed again as a preventative maintenance measure – with a receipt showing the parts have a lifetime warranty – and the brake discs and pads on all corners have also been replaced, including the sensors.

Prior to the current ownership, this example was the subject of the rod bearing recall early in its life, with the throttle and idle actuators also replaced. The rear brake discs and pads were replaced, and the seller states that routine oil changes have been carried out in his tenure every 3,000 miles between the main services. The engine mounts have also been replaced.

This M3 also benefits from an upgraded Eventuri full intake system and carbon-fibre engine plenum, as well as a remap by Velocity Tuning to boost power to around 470bhp. The gearbox has also been remapped to improve the shift performance, and an OEM exhaust with the 2.5 pipe mod.

The most recent MOT test was on 14 May 2019 at 63,596 miles, resulting in a clean pass with no advisories. In fact, the car has never failed an MOT test, and has never had even one advisory, which is a good indicator of fastidious maintenance. Shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres all round; the vendor states that these have approximately 5mm of tread remaining.

Offered for sale to its next enthusiast owner, this M3 is accompanied by its full complement of original handbooks, stamped service history and supporting invoices.

Combining prodigious power with a dark and menacing appearance, this exceptionally rare Frozen Black Edition BMW M3 is in very good overall condition. It would make for an engaging and attention-grabbing weekend toy, or a useable and distinctive daily driver.
